Rearden Racing Comes to Popular Road America With Lamborghini GT3 Sports Car After Two Nashville Wins
ELKHART LAKE, WI (Aug. 25, 2021) – Jeff Burton is back to having fun behind the wheel of a sports car in 2021. In recent years, the Utah businessman turner racer had driven his Rearden Racing cars to wins and championships, but the 2020 SRO America campaign wasn’t the same. But, this year, Burton has proven to be a strong contender in the team’s new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 sports car after an impressive double win in the GT3 Masters class in the streets of Nashville a few weeks ago. Burton returns to one of his favorite racetracks this weekend at the historic Road America four-mile road course in Wisconsin and hopes to take that top step of the victory podium again when he competes four events in the SRO America doubleheader weekend (Aug. 27-29). Burton will drive the No. 191 Burton Lumber/Rearden Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in which he captured the two Nashville features in the two 40-minute GT America sprint events at Road America on Saturday and Sunday. Then he’ll co-drive with his mentor, veteran racer and former class series champion Vesko Kozarov, in the No. 91 Burton Lumber/Rearden Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in the 90-minute Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Pro-Am double features also set for Saturday and Sunday. “I would hope that I can continue with the same success at Road America after the Nashville wins,” said Burton. “As I stated when I was interviewed after the Nashville races, it becomes easier for me to drive the car on the limit when the car is set up to be driven on the limit. I love Road America and we hope the car will perform as well as in Nashville. The team has done a great job this year with the new car. They make my job is a lot easier when the car feels good to me. “I’m hoping to work well with Vesko in the GT3 two-driver races as well. We have been improving with each race. He is so good at working with the team.” The Rearden Racing team made the big move to the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 sports car after many years in the GT4 divisions. Burton and Kozarov collected series championship in GT4 competition in recent seasons. “We knew it was going to be a big jump for our team to the GT3 class and with the new Lambo,” said team owner Lara Tallman. “But we have been very busy with racing, testing the new car and moving into a new race headquarters (in Park City, UT). I’m proud how the team has worked so hard with learning the new car and setting it for Jeff’s liking. Nashville was a big weekend for us and we would love to continue that success this weekend at Road America.” GT America Sprint doubleheader races are scheduled for Saturday at 4:15 p.m. CDT and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CDT, while the 90-minute Fanatec GT World Challenge America twin races will take place at 1:15 p.m. CDT on Saturday and 2:15 p.m. CDT on Sunday.
